Hi, first of all I apologize because I used a translator to write my message

:blank: So here is my toy: a GT40 Sbarro.Par pure chance that I learn GT40 Sbarro is for sale, after a very good contact with the owner that is located in the suburbs of Paris, he sent me some photos.Je discovers GT40 one of rare beauty, in a remarkable state ............. but everything is reassembled and missing some parts, engine, gearbox, windscreen, electric circuit, plexi doors and hood ... more AR a few things, obviously no question of putting a V8 Renault rover and a box
I promised myself not to back car for one simple reason, work, research doc, parts etc. ....
But still I'm still hesitant because of the scarcity of the product and especially its very next line very close to a true.
This car comes with Sbarro, I think everyone knows a few achieve it, finishing his work, his short automotive engineering. Sbarro has a long history with the GT40, which starts when a chief mechanic Scuderia Filipinetti more will have an opportunity to change some GT40 racing version route.Il has a large stock of original parts.
It will be a first test by modifying a Detomaso Pantera by grafting bodywork GT40.Ensuite it will make the original copy Complies with the stock parts it has. Seems difficult to say how much it has produced probably between 5 and 7. acquired one I did a few races in history, after a fright, the owner has stored the car in a barn and sold a few years after the person that I bought . This began a restauration.voir photos.

hello everyone, I'm looking for addresses to buy parts conforms to a real GT40, for example (busches suspension, complete electrical circuit, sterring etc. ..............) on board as well back to the GT40 as the original, with plan. I think in England you, there are some specialist of this beautiful car and all your advice will help me
Of course there is a Sbarro GT40 and not a Ford GT40
Thank you to all:shy:

very nice, many confusions about those cars...
was this always known as a Sbarro GT40 or was this also a chassis double and has a "famous" chassis-number ala the real cars.

looks good the black and yellow by contrast.

It seems that make 6 Sbarro GT40 for the road
And 1 circuit, the circuit will be mine
some pictures

Costa, I went to Paris to inspect this car some 2 years ago,and took loads of photographs and details. You have a great, but difficult, project in front of you, and I hope you will progress to getting the car finally assembled as it should be. We had some difficulty in establishing its originality, I had some doubts about the Sbbaro background, but you may have been able to get a better history of it than I could. Good Luck, Frank

Sorry to write in French

Translation for my friend Lino :

"Hi
I just found a picture of the same Sbarro GT40 than mine, with typical details, same rims, rear larger flares, Lola spinners, plexiglass side windows, no rearview mirrors, no clip latches, low profile ugly rear tires dimensions are 29/61-15 which should correspond to 335/35-15. I hope to find tires in 335/60-15, any idea about suppliers ?
(15" x 14" rims)
To answer to Frank Catt, an indication to recognize the rear part of a GT40 Sbarro : the setting of the sway-bar is special to Sbarro

Pierre-Louis, who speaks english, helps me for searching parts.

I'm looking for pictures or drawing to know how to set up the electrical harness ? Exact original racing dashboard layout ? Where are located exactly the brake pipes ?
The car is racing style.

All your advices and opinions are welcome, of course.

The engine will be a 302 with 8 stacks EFI, I hope 500hp at 6500rpm and a ZF gearbox.
Sorry to write in French."

Frank, when you took many pictures of the car 2 years ago, was the car already dissassembled ?
If not, could you send us your pics, to have an idea of some building details...? Thanks.

With all due respect, a Sbarro built GT40 is simply a replica. Calling it an original Sbarro is an interesting qualification.
Nice car for circuit driving but it will never be allowed in any historic class.
The tub looks like brand new to me..........

If this car gains FIA papers once complete, then it will be allowed to go historic racing e.g. Gelsco, Tennant and Superformance etc all go historic racing in Europe now. GT40P/1085A is a Sbarro and raced at the Le Mans Classic in 2012.

I think need to delete this post
I do not believe that I have a real Gt40, just a genuine Sbarro
thank you

You mean there are FAKE Sbarros?

Who would do such a dirty deed? Do you think Franco will be annoyed?

I obviously cannot be absolutely sure from the two pictures of the chassis as posted, but this does look very much like the one that i viewed in a lock up garage in Widford, Chelmsford, Essex at least 12-13 years ago. Same yellow roof and few parts ......

Sbarro, i,m not so sure.

Built up correctly, it will be eligible for historic racing.
