After all my research over the years, I believed that the crossover exhaust system crossed No.2 and 3 ports from the right side to left collector and No. 6 and 7 ports from the left side to the right collector. This seems to work for both Ford firing orders.
I have just seen a photograph of a GT40 engine bay, where some other crossover configuration seems to be taking place.
Can anyone help me with this one. What is correct, and why?

Ports 2 and 3 crossing with ports 6 and 7 is correct. Its so that the engine fires into alternate collectors. This works with both old and new 302 firing orders.
