Gauging interest in possible GTD for sale

I have come to a point where I might consider letting someone else fufill their dreams as I did mine 5 years ago.

I have thought about this for a while now, resisting all the way, but just dont have as much time to enjoy the car as I once did, mind you I dont have to sell it but wanted to gauge interest, because I feel this car needs to be driven and enjoyed, and my interest seem to be turning to other things as of late.

So here it is for your consideration. If you are truly interested PM me with your phone number and I'll call you as I dont want to do this with extensive emailing.

Please read the entire post before contcting me as I have tried my best to be clear and this is kind of an unusual offer, so read it all and see if its right for you.

This car has been developed as a road car, works well in
traffic as well as well as spirited driving, runs @ 170d F on
the highway in stop and go @ 200 (I did this for almost an hour one hot day)

Stable @ 125 mph, I never went any faster in it, had plenty left estimated top speed 150-155, accelerates like a freight train when floored, yet very civil in town.

Handles extremely well, corner attitude is stellar, braking as well top notch. This car has almost 15k miles of development, the previous owner did a superb job of assembly and fitting. I've had 5 years to further its manners and we have come a long way to where it is now, actually there is very little else that can be accomplished without spending lots of money, i.e LSD trans w/ modded main shaft 6-8k, reall good tires 2k and so on.

Pricing is for the car, all of the spares as well as the tools to further its development, needed especially if someone has aspirations of any track work.

This is a package and will not be sold seperately, so please dont ask, however I have seperated the prices to better illustrate the price of the car, spares and tools.

Providing delivery will be the sole responsibility of the buyer and will have to be paid in full before any such action can commence, no escrow either.

That being said prospective buyers are welcome to inspect the car and I will assist in any way to expidite delivery, other members on this forum can testify as to the quality of this GT, remember its not a Superformance its a GTD and
priced accordingly

This is a truly unique offer, to get a well developed car, with a great spares package and the tools to develop it any way you want.

Price for the car is $64,500
Price for the spares is $4,500
Price for the Tools is $900

For a Total of $69,900

The price is negotiable of course, but its priced as I feel very well, so please dont waste my time or yours with unrealistic lowball offers, and as well please, just like
other places, (and I dont mean to come across as a hard a** about this) but if you dont have the means again dont waste my time or yours. If I go through with this a $10k deposit will be required to hold the car, the rest of course before delivery can be commenced.

Thanks again, Chris

The car will have current California registration until June 2009

After thinking a bit about it I'm making a adjustment to the price, as follows:

Car - $59,500
Spares - 6,500
Tools - 900

Total - $66,900

Thanks, Chris

Rooting through the garage I found some items that will also be included in the sale just to sweeten the deal a bit:

Spare Halon Bottle - As New
Full set of Brand New Gaz Shocks (4)
Pair 275# springs, almost new
Seat tracks
Holley Avenger 670 cfm carb w/ stainless fuel line
The one and only Bud Jones GTD Bible
GTD Biuld Manual
GTD Sill decal set - As new
Simpson Race harness(s) with custom bracket for GTD
2- Vitaloni California Mirrors (Left, orig, painted to car color. Right repro, blk)
2 - GTD A/C Compressors, 1 w/ fan
GTD Muffler, original
Clutch Slave Cylinder - New
Throwout Bearing
Box of Misc. Small parts either spare or extras at time of orig. assy.

All this will be included in the price quoted, frankly I've never seen a car offered that is this sorted (not a 200 mi. car) and that comes with a more complete collection of support as this one, if you plan on keeping a car for a good long time then this is the way to go, the only things I never got around to adding and would have liked to would have been a steering rack and a full set of upper and lower ball joints ( I have one lower), with that you have all the spares you would ever need( I think) and with the current exchange rate with the UK this is has become quite a valuable lot.

I also found to include a brand new Halotron handheld fire bottle (2.5#)w/ bracket and an indoor cover for this GT40.

Also 4 low profile ramps to roll on/off the turn plates / scales. BTW "toe plates" in the original description should have read "turn plates"

It just keeps getting better and better.

Thanks to those who have shown interest, I will work on getting some more pictures to you soon, Chris

GTD for sale in California

OK I've decided to sell my beloved GT, which can be seen at the Monterey Historics, just email me to arrange to see the car when you are in town (thats the weekend of Aug 15-17) , in the mean time if anyone has a constructive comment about the car, or how I might more effectively market it by all means let me know.

I will entertain offers but I think with the spares included @ 64K USD is a good place to start, comments on the pricing will be welcome as long as they too are constructive.

Thanks, Chris

Hello Chris

how ist your GT 40 registered ? (especially what is the date of 1.registration and as what car type is it registered. I am looking for a car for a swiss friend.

Kind regards

Tom

Chris, I've seen listings on Cobra Country before - might be a good place to list your (very nice) car. Also, you might give www.race-cars.com a whirl too. Finally, with the current Euro/USD exchange rate there might be a solid market in Europe for the car - you could try a posting in Motorsport.

Most of the well-known/large seasonal auctions are over with summer coming to a close so there may be limited auction-based opportunities. However, with a beautiful car like that you'll likely have strong interest through a range of avenues.

Chris,

Are your Gas Shocks for sale seperately and what are they and how much, if so?
PLs reply directly to my email if interested.

Thanks for the responses, I'll try to give my best to answer all:

Tom:

The car is registered in California as a 2003 or 2004 (I dont remember which) SPCN (Special Construction Vehicle) with a body/engine of a 1965 Ford GT, originally registered in the UK in 1990.

Cliff:

Thanks, I'll check it out

Malcolm:

Thanks as well, I'll have to have a look there.

Fred:

No, you'll have to buy the car, and I'll give you the shocks :)

evomind:

Thanks for the kind word.

Randy:

I'm north of you in the Monterey Bay area

Its nice to see some response, the car is a great deal for someone who wants to get into a 40 and drive it, I hope it finds a home where it gets more road time than I can give it at the moment, but i did have it out during the historics and was reminded what fun it is to drive

Thanks to all, Chris
