GT40 North America **SOLD**

This is one of the last MKI GT40 cars built by GT40 North America. It used carbon fiber extensively in the body and interior. It came out of the famous 600 car John O'Quinn collection and only has 290 miles on it. Since this car was in a collection it has never been registered and is still on the MSO, its virtually in the wrapper! This car is in exceptional condition and would make a nice daily driver or weekend fun car.

These cars were manufactured in Indianapolis as turn key cars ready to roll. The body and interior dash and console used carbon fiber extensively. This is one of the later cars produced and utilized more carbon fiber and has been well finished under the front hood unlike some of the earlier cars I've seen. The 392/485 HP engine was specifically made for this car and supplied by ROUCHE. The transmission is the one you want, a ZF 5-speed manual. There is of course air conditioning and full instrumentation.

At the 2004 SEMA show in Las Vegas SONY awarded the GT40 MKI by GT40 North America the their "Best Domestic Automobile" award. The build cost on these were high due to the high quality of materials used and had a MSRP of over $125,000.00 so very few were produced. We are asking a very reasonable $89,975.00. If your looking for a very rare and hard to find car built to the highest standards then this car deserves a look. If you have any questions feel free to contact me via e-mail or at (714) 535-8555.

You right, my bad. As soon as I figure out how to edit the post I'll take care of that. Thanks!

That would probably be one of very few "daily driver" GT40's in the world; I can see it now: Commute to work, stop at Costco on my way home, maybe pick up a bit a lumber from Home Depot...:lipsrsealed:

It may not be everybody's idea of a good daily driver but I have a friend who drives his Cav 2 or 3 days a week and takes it to Cars and Coffee when he goes. However, I can see how a woman may not be able to handle it as a daily driver.

Re: GT40 North America w/290 original miles, later model, turn key ready to roll! $89

I (Along with 3 others) built this car in Westfield IN (Just north of Indy). Not sure if you knew this, but the engineer on this build was Andrew Broadley. Andrew is the son of the original GT40 designer Eric Broadley. l was fortunate enough to really get my hands on the ball as far as design goes. This particular car was the first incorporate the push/pull rod shift linkage I designed. It was quite the upgrade from the cable linkage! Using (1/2" if I remember correctly) pipe, coupled with INDY car steering universals, and oil bronzed pillow blocks, I was able to create a nice crisp gear change. Under the shift stick, I built a leverage system very similar to the 911 Porsche. I could go on and on and on about the building of this car! So excited to stumble across it!!!
I would literally trade my wife, truck, and possibly some of my race bikes to get this car. Great memories.

Re: GT40 North America w/290 original miles, later model, turn key ready to roll! $89

one more note: I literally hand built just about everything on this car. I'm not trying to brag, it's just one of my more crowning achievements.

Re: GT40 North America w/290 original miles, later model, turn key ready to roll! $89

Hi Jeremy,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you but I haven't been checking in lately on a regular basis. Your information is very helpful and anything else you can tell me about the car would be appreciated. I can be reached via email at [email protected] or (714) 535-8555. If its easier I would be happy to contact you.

Thanks again,
Greg

Re: GT40 North America w/290 original miles, later model, turn key ready to roll! $89

Jeremy,

Nice car, and the front does look tidy.

2 questions, please and if your memory serves well enough to answer: I note the front sway bar, but do not see provision for one or presence in the rear. Also, the rear suspension differs quite a bit from most of the others in the repro market, being of unequal length convertional A arms versus the more commonly (and as originally) used double trailing arm, reversed lower A arm and upper lateral link. Are you aware of the rationale behind that different configuration?

Question 2: I have seen another NA GT40 which also had a non-crossover exhaust as on the red car. The red car has an exhaust that wraps (closely) around the rear subframe tubing-wouldn't the exhaust come into contact with the tubing with normal engine movement under power/braking/cornering loads? The other NA I have seen had exhaust that missed the tubing entirely.

Thanks,

Mark

I have a GT40NA also. I have tried to find additional information on them and what I have found I have posted on the following website;
https://sites.google.com/a/wrfl1610.com/gt40na/
I have had my car for over 7 years and 6k miles now and I am still thrilled every time that I get in it!

Re: GT40 North America w/290 original miles, later model, turn key ready to roll! $89

Just a heads up...neither of the original two posters have posted to this site since Sept. 2013.

Re: GT40 North America w/290 original miles, later model, turn key ready to roll! $89

Ron,

Thanks, and understood.

Undying curiosity leads me to even ask.

Great looking car, by the by...

Regards,

mark

Re: GT40 North America w/290 original miles, later model, turn key ready to roll! $89

Hey Rookie (Mike),

Does your NA GT40 have the headers (crossover or not?) wrapped around the rear chassis frame tube, and do you have a rear sway bar?

Thanks,

Mark

Re: GT40 North America w/290 original miles, later model, turn key ready to roll! $89

No. Mine are not crossovers either. From what I can gather none of the completed cars sold by GT40NA had crossovers. I think that a couple of the later cars which were actually completed by LA West were sold without drivetrains and the owners put crossovers in. If you take a peek at the website that I mention in my previous post, a couple are shown. All of the GT40NA constructed cars had either Roush 392 or 402 engines and ZF (RBT) trans axles.

Re: GT40 North America w/290 original miles, later model, turn key ready to roll! $89

Mike,

Thanks for the update. Does your machine have sway bars at either end, and were they stock? How about the nose area on yours? The implication is that the front on some of the NAs might not be a clean as on the red car for sale.

I had trouble with your link, which I think would be cool to see. "IE cannot display the website, etc." -my quotes.

Thanks!

Mark

Re: GT40 North America w/290 original miles, later model, turn key ready to roll! $89

Mark,
Mine is identical to the red one as far as the front suspension. I can't see enough detail in the photos to compare the rear, but I will assume that it is the same based on what I can see. I will take some photos of the rear suspension of mine and send it to you by private message. We are probably not in the right thread to carry this conversation anyway.
BTW, I think that the red car is still for sale. Check Hemmings.
Also, another way into my site is www.wrfl1610.com then go to the upper left hand corner and select the 'GT40NA Story'. My car is the black one.

Re: GT40 North America w/290 original miles, later model, turn key ready to roll! $89

Mike,

Thanks! Still can't connect to your link-must be a firewall blockage....

I'll look for the PM.

Red car looks nice!

Mark
