Superformance GT-40 Mk.II P2221

Well guys, I'm sad to say it's time for my baby to find a new home. Health/finance reasons force me to sell the car as I can't drive it anymore. So here's the deal:

The Good

Chassis: Superformance GT-40 Mk.II, chassis P2221, in Viper grey metallic with Mercedes bright silver stripes. I purchased the roller from Superformance in southern California back in July of 2013, and completed the car just in time for Pebble Beach 2014. It features Halibrand wheels with Avon CR6ZZ tires, supplied by Superformance/Hillbank. Odyssey high output AGM battery. Registered in California under SB100, there is no smog required whatsoever.

Engine: all-aluminum F.E. displacing 482 C.I. Block is a Pond with billet main caps and all ARP fasteners throughout the entire engine. Heads are Edelbrock castings that have had different larger valves installed, 5 angle valve seats, different springs and locks, ports have been re-worked, etc. Currently running an Edelbrock single plane intake with a QFT double pumper, I swapped this intake on to kill bottom end torque and make it more streetable as low RPM torque is just massive. Originally run on 51MM Weber IDA's, it'd smoke the tires through every intersection, the throttle response with individual throats is stunning. Valve train is full-roller throughout, with Crane cam and hyd. roller lifters, with billet roller rockers from Precision Oil Pumps. MSD Ignition system, with billet distributor, digital 6 box, and heavy wires. High torque mini-starter. Exhaust is a one-off custom built 180 degree setup, all stainless and sized to let this thing breathe. Makes 500 horsepower to the tires without even trying, and can be turned up from there. Long story short, she's an absolute rocket ship.

Transmission: RBT/ZF 5 speed, clutch/flywheel assembly is a twin disc McLeod with McLeod hyd. throw out bearing. Bellhousing is Quicktime. Stock Superformance cable shifter, it works but it's not great.

The car has less than 2000 miles on it since I built it, as sadly not long after I finished it, I started having some health issues and quit driving it.

The Bad

It has become apparent that I will never be able to use the car as originally intended, so instead of letting it sit in a garage I'd like to pass it on to someone that'll appreciate her. Currently it needs a couple things to be fully show-ready, although none of it needs attention to go drive the wheels off of her. There are several small rock chips, two on the nose in the radiator air outlet, one on the driver's door top, and a couple on the lower pass. side rocker panel. There is also some spiderweb cracking around the pin for the rear clam shell. Small enough that if you weren't looking you'd never notice, but personally I'd have them fixed. The speedometer needs replaced with a GPS unit, as currently it's the stock cable driven unit, and doesn't read even remotely close to correct. I've always just run it on the tach. The feed line under the dash for the oil pressure gauge was never crimped properly, so it seeps, and occasionally drips a drop of oil from the dash. Again, something I just lived with, but probably best to replace with an electronic unit. The underside of the car could do with a good detailing as well if you wanted to have it perfect, but if you're going to actually drive it, it is ignorable. Beyond that she's a beautiful car, and I really hate to let her go.

I need to sell this car ASAP, so I'm offering it at what I feel is an incredibly fair price of $160,000. You guys know the roller will set you back around 130, and to copy the powertrain setup I have would be another 55-60. Basically by the time you got it together and registered you're north of 200K to copy my car, nevermind the 2 year wait for a roller, or the hassle of SB100, etc. etc. If you want a Mk.II with real F.E. power, there's no better way to get it at this time, at least that I know of. I'm sure I'm forgetting some details, if you have any questions please contact me at 559-978-6901 or e-mail at [email protected] Thanks for looking, and god bless.

If you still have that Weber setup, you might mention it. Whoever buys your '40 would might be interested in restoring all that torque.

Just sayin'...

Re: Superformance GT-40 Mk.II P2221

Agreed, however I sold it to a friend when I pulled it off the car. The good news is it could be copied and put back on the car easily, a phone call to Weber is all it takes! Not to mention, it looks soooo good under the glass......here's a pic of how I originally ran it.
