They look like non return valves. Do they have arrows on them showing the flow direction?. If so they are almost certainly non return valves.

Dave I have them on my car. They also stop the pumps from filling the opposite tank in normal use. I fitted mine after I noticed that as one gauge went down, the other went up. For safety sake they should be fitted to all cars.

brian am i right in thinking you got me a pair of non return valves when i had my car,im sure they are still sat on a shelf in my garage,so if max wants them let me know

Max here's the non return valves i never got round to installing if you want them let me know
