Hi just joined the forum.
I am looking to change my Ariel Atom for the gtd40 if any one would be kind enough to show me there car as I haven't seen one in the flesh! Trying to read and get as much info on the car as possible, i have so many question big block or small, best gear box, etc.

Hi Paul,

I am no officianado, but MK1's should always be small block. Mk11's big block. The 'right' gearbox ought to be a ZF, or a at least a an RBT or ZFQ.

It really depends on what you want from the car personally. Whether building or buying a finished car, you can pretty much have what your heart desires. Some folks want a 40 that is as close (at least aesthetically) to the real thing in period. Other guys put a more modern slant on their cars with big wheels, luxury interiors etc etc.

If you are specifically looking a GTD's then I guess you won't be building the car from scratch. Budget not withstanding, I would recommend finding the nicest example you can with a Ford 302 and a G50 trans. Webbers are cool, as are centre-lock wheels etc, but all this can be added later at your discretion.

There really are some fantastic GTD's out there, but there are often some rotters too. Take your time, view many and don't fall in love with any car until you have had time to educate yourself as to what is a good 40 and what isn't. Good ones often look no different to bad ones on the surface.
