Oulton Park Gold Cup Timetable

Here is the timetable for the Oulton Park Gold Cup 29th, 30th, 31st August. They seem to have re-realised that the clubs are a big draw so they are promoting this side of things again which is good news. Jonathan Palmer has been a visitor to the club area in the past and understands how we add to the event. This seems to have got through to the actual event organisers and hopefully the club pitches will be laid out properly once again this year.
Cheers
Mike

Great vids Mike. Beautiful cars, simpler times, total lack of safety concerns, hot pants and cars you can actually see being driven to the limits. Few aides, just driver control. Loved 'em.

Thanks for posting links Mike.
The 1970 Gold Cup was the first motor race I ever attended, cycling there from my then home in Bolton. It was significant in that it marked the surprise debut of the first Tyrrell F1 car for Jackie Stewart, was the last race for Jochen Rindt before the tragedy at Monza. My favourite F1 car there was the BRM P153 of Oliver.
I watched the meeting from outside of Lodge and remember clearly the Escort crashing and seeing it's front windscreen popping out and flying through the air. The sight that made the biggest impression however was the opening lap of the Formula 3 race, a huge horde of 1 litre 'screamers' weaving in a seething mass along the undulating straight from Druids into Lodge! I was hooked, happy days, though the cycle ride home was somewhat eventful, having somehow got lost and finding myself doing a lap of Trafford Park Industrial Estate, should have taken a map! My sense of direction is much better now. Oulton Park remains my favourite circuit alongside Spa, and I have been fortunate to race at both in Historic F3 and F2 cars.
