Mike, Is this the movie filmed in europe following the formula racing circuit? I think i saw it recently.

I haven been on line for some time but I would be interested in how you project is going and if I could stop out soon. Email me if you think there is a good time. Thanks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Are you talking about "Grand Prix"? (not sure if that is the complete title). I belive that parts of this movie were filmed using an original GT40 as a camera car.

A GT40(camera car) towed a trailer which held the GP car strapped to a turntable. To simulate spins, the GP car would twirl on the turntable, while being towed at 120MPH by the GT. Apparently, the actors weren't too keen on this plan, but went along with it anyway. Talk about primitive special effects! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Mike,

Sorry I can't help with supplying you with a copy, but hold out for one, it's a great film! I remember watching it as a child & being *sooo* inspired by all the 'arty' shots of throttle linkages working, the drivers feet working the pedals, & frantic gearchanges..... especially the missed gearchange which caused the big accident at Monaco where a car ends up in the water.... a fantastic movie!

To coin a phrase, 'they don't make 'em like they used to!' /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mike, I recently purchased the film (it IS "Grand Prix") from CD Universe on VHS Tape for about 16 bucks. CD Universe can be contacted Here. GREAT Racing Movie that's about three hours long.

Ben

ps: While there you may want to order the companion movie (3 bucks or so) called "The making of Grand Prix" which is almost as good as the movie itself.

Rick, you are correct. They had a GT40 at Monaco in 1965 chasing the likes of Bandini, Clark etc. in their GP cars. I have a slide that I took of the GT40 going around the curve and down the hill after the Casino. Sorry about 1965, it was 1966 and by the way you can buy the vhs (no DVD yet) at Amazon. com

Grand Prix is a great movie. All gearheads should own a copy
since it's now readily available.

However that's not movie I was searching for.
"The Racing Scene" is a 90 minute documentary released in 1970 that follows James Garners T-70 MK III coupes and his
Formula A race car during a couple major races in 1969.

Dayton Motorsports (www.motorsportsvideo.com) sells it
for $ 19.99 which includes shipping in the US.
I watched last night and highly recommend it for
any Lola T-70 fans. Unfortunately there's only a few
scenes containing the Gulf GT40's.

Did anyone else order "The Racing Scene", and not get it???
I ordered mine back in November, and have not heard anything from them!!! I am going to call them on Wednesday, and check on my order. I was just courious if I was the only one that didn't get their's or not !!!! I hope it's not one of those "it's in the mail" deals.

Hey guys. "The Racing Scene" is a documentary narrated by Garner, not the Grand Prix flick. He has a team of Lolas in the movie. I'm looking for a copy too, they are hard to come by!

Hello Lesley !!!
I reordered my " The Racing Scene " from Dayton Motorsports Video after not receiving it last time. I returned it yesterday, as it would not track on any of the 4 video players that I have. They will be sending out a new copy soon, and I will let you know when it arrives.
Regards Brian

You guys seem to know movies so I have a question. I've been looking for a copy of a movie called "Circuit" ( I think). It was about a single CanAM season and starred Danny Sullivan, Al holbert, Teo Fabi,PLN and some others. Anybody know if this still exists or where it can be had?

Steve,

It's available on Amazon(VHS only) for $5.

It is a GREAT piece of film! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Hey guys, I have an original movie poster for the movie "Grand Prix", Anyone have an idea on what it's worth? It's number 67 of 200 printed. I friend told me it's worth more if it's not autographed. I had an original "24 LeMans" poster too, but it was taken out of my shop. They also took a customer's Lotus Elan. I got the Lotus back but not the poster. I had a 906 taken from my shop also at one time. The cops caught that Bas*****!!

Did anyone end up getting a good copy from Dayton Motorsports?

It's still listed on their website for US$16.99 (#D-115), and I am very keen to get a copy. I last watched it in about 1986!

I have emailed Dayton and am awaiting a reply. I'll let you if they still have stock.

It doesn't seem to be listed at Amazon any more.

Regards
Richard

Hello Richard !!
I did indeed get a replacement from Dayton, as promised. It worked fine, and is a great addition to my Lola collection.
Regards Brian

Hi Brian!

Glad you got your copy. I've tried emailing them from the 'contact' portal on their website, but I got the following very helpful message: "The following addresses had transient non-fatal errors". Apparently it's going to automatically re-try for the next 4 days. Somehow I'm not thoroughly convinced this will do the trick.

If I have no joy I'll fax them... Fingers crossed.
