GT40 ZF Gearbox and Bellhousing

From AJL Racing's website AJL Racing so this pressumably has the provenance of being ex FEL1C (GT40p1002). Yes i know its a dash 2 which is not origional but evry one keeps the original in a safe place and races with the stronger dash 2 gearbox.

By the way believe that AJL Racing is selling up so FEL1C should be on the market if anyones interested!

GT40 ZF Transaxle and Bellhousing

ZF 5DS-25/2 transaxle. This gearbox has just had a full rebuild at BPA Engineering. The crown wheel and pinion and all the gears, bearings, syncro rings etc are all in first class condition. It is fitted with aluminium side plates and 'Gelscoe Motorsport' output shafts/do-nut bolts. The top cover has been modified so oil is pumped directly to the crown wheel and pinion (if gearbox oil pump is fitted to the car). A Tilton radial slave sylinder mounting boss and the GT40 bellhousing are included. The bellhousing is for 6 bolt Ford V8 engines. The gear change mechanism is configured for a right hand change GT40 linkage.
Ratios:
CWP 9/38 4.22:1
1st 12/29 2.42:1
2nd 18/29 1.61:1
3rd 22/25 1.14:1
4th 26/22 0.846:1
5th 27/19 0.704:1
R 27/19 2.86:1
The differnetial is a ZF Plate type LSD.

WOW! They're obviously pretty proud of their used gearbox since they're asking about triple what it would cost in the USA!

Re: GT40 ZF Gearbox and Bellhousing

Here is a transaxle for $5995, located in Saint Louis MO. I called on it thinking it would work on my 427 but its one of the early ZFs and it will not last. Hope someone can use it, the person I talked to is honest and told me up front it would be a mistake behind my motor. Maybe a 289?

Re: GT40 ZF Gearbox and Bellhousing

I've never heard of a ZF 5DS20 before? I wonder what the original application was? It looks shorter than the 5DS25 which was used on the GT40, Pantera, Mangusta, Bora, M1, etc. etc.....

Re: GT40 ZF Gearbox and Bellhousing

If the top lugs are missing, how did it fit in FEL 1C ?

WOW!!! Do you get a kiss with this gearbox? This is the most expensive box I've seen to date.
