Anybody heard of any problems with center knock-off wire wheels? Are Dayton knock-off wire wheels any good?

Dayton wire wheels

Everything depends on what you are using them for..
Racing or cruising.....?
A LOT of cars has them...
Maintaining them is needed as in everything else...
The special brand mentioned is to me unknown.
Borrani´s is a hard killed wire wheel.
Of course at time they did not drive them in anger with 800hp engines etc....
Then you need other stuff.
For road driving they are fine, if maintained.(not being a daredevil, that is !!)

As mentioned before, wire wheels are fine for ordinary road use, but not the go if you want to drive "enthusiastically". Wire wheels are from an era when tyre technology was still in its relative infancy. Grip in today's road tyres far excede even the ultimate outright race tyre of the 60's. I've seen people break spokes on the race track after only a handful of laps.

Had knock-off spoke wheels on my first car: Triumph TR-3. Was a bear keeping them "true". Otherwise constant irregular tie wear. Seem to be touchy about running into things (curbs, other cars) as 16 years olds were prone to do. cb
