Rep Power: 7 | Headlight Options Hi Guys,
I have been using Vauxhall Viva headlights for the 40 reps. These are now becoming difficult to find, so does anyone have any recommendations?
I have heard of older Saab units being used?
Cheers,
Rick |

At Classic Le Mans this year Robin Sundt's car had just had Citroen 2CV units fitted.
They are slightly narrower than originals but not too bad a fit. I was told they also come with or without sidelight fitting. (And for those driving on the other side of the road can be found Right and left dipping)
Hope it helps

Rep Power: 8 | Re: Headlight Options Early Hillman Hunter, MkI Escort, early Vauxhall Chevette and Renault 12 headlights are all very similar dimensionally to the HC Viva lights and all are available with side lights incorporated. This may not be of too much use though as I guess they too are becoming more difficult to find. I can get you the part number of the Escort lights if that will help.

Rep Power: 20 | Re: Headlight Options I used Hella Part #1059 - they fit the DRB recesses perfectly, & are not hard to find.
They are approx 165mm wide & 110mm high.
Kind Regards,

Rep Power: 12 | Re: Headlight Options And the Valeo/ Cibie unit very similar to the originals is Valeo part number 470078. This is available from all good Valeo stockists. For example Central Auto Supplies. I got mine for £63.04 each +VAT. It is stocked at Valeo's warehouse in Birmingham, and at the factory in Belgium, and is still a current production item, although I have had absolutely no luck identifying what it was fitted to. It does not appear in Valeos catalogue, and has not done so for a few years. Even Valeo factory in Belgium and Valeo technical in Birmingham could not tell me what it was fitted to. It is suitable for Left Hand and Right Hand Drive, and uses the older style of H4 bulbs, and does not have a sidelight |

Rep Power: 5 | Re: Headlight Options Hi Rick,
I'm currently building a 40 myself and have just came across a parts suppler for Vauxhall Viva's owners club and they have got new head lights in stock at an amazing price of £20 each, these are Lucas units and boxed, I have just placed my order and currently waiting for them to be delivered, I have listed their contact details below.
Adrain Miller, The Thatches, Snetterton North End, Norfolk, NR16 2LD.
Tel – 01953 498818.
E mail – adrain@vivaclub.freeserve.co.uk.
You may have some problems contacting Adrain as he maybe on holiday still.
Hope this information helps.
Chris.

You can still purchase the original GT40 specification head lights made by a French supplier on the old tooling from Mark Sibley.
He has a choice of both convex and concave lenses. |

Chris,
Do you have a part number for the above mentioned Lucas light? |

I have the Valeo units Lee describes and am about to drill the back of the light to fit a park / pilot light. I thought I would check on availability though in case of accidents! My local factor tells me Valeo say they are no longer available although I haven't checked directly with them yet.
Has anyone out there done this light modification and can reassure me the light won't shatter into a thousand pieces? And does anyone have the latest picture on light availability, particularly of the Valeo unit? From what I can gather talking to SVC the Lucas Vauxhall Viva rectangular light supply is very sparse and erratic. The Hella unit is an alternative but this is quite a bit smaller than the Valeo lights. So I'm also thinking of a 2CV set as spares!

The front is obviously glass but the back is just mirrored steel and easy to drill. I put a pilot hole in then used one of the cone shaped drill bits to enlarge it enough to get a grommet in there that I could use to grip a side light bulb. Not actually my idea but a goodun - thanks Richard Guest. |

Tim,
Does this help?
These came with my kit. I don't know if they are still available. You might call Robert at RF and see if he has a source. |

These are the units I use, Renault 12 sourced. Currently I am using a European spec lamp, But I think I will soon have units to take an H-4.
