Disc brake bolts....strength?

On a GTD front hub, I need to attach the disc brakes via five bolts to the hub.
I'm guessing these need to be some sort of "upgraded" bolt rather than just a standard bolt that fits?
Do they need to be hi-tensile or hardened in some way?
As it's a safety critical item, I'd rather get it right.
Thanks

Simon

Re: Disc brake bolts....strength?

Stronger the better in my view. 12.8 bolts should be ok.

Re: Disc brake bolts....strength?

Hi Simon,

I'm currently upgrading the brakes on my car and fitting Hi Spec 4 pot calipers on the front with vented discs. With the original hub I have used M10 High Tensile (?10.9) and as I needed nuts too, am using M10 aerotight rather than nyloc.

Hope this helps.

Managed to get some 12.9 bolt which should do the trick.

Re: Disc brake bolts....strength?

12.9 is perfect. Don't use nylocks as the rotor heat can melt the nylon.
