In-Line Coolant Pumps

Does anyone run an electric in-line coolant pump in tandem with the engine water pump to help out with coolant flow? I'm having a new radiator built and the rad man suggested I add one as used on Panteras and such. If so please name suppliers and details on placement within the coolant system.

Re: In-Line Coolant Pumps

HELLO, MARK,

I'M INSTALLING A DAVIES-CRAIG ELECTRIC IN-LINE WATER PUMP IN MY ERA GT-40. IN THAT CAR THE PUMP INSTALLS IN THE LEFT HAND COOLANT LINE (AS VIEWED FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT) THE FLOW DIRECTION IN THAT LINE IS FROM THE RADIATOR TO THE ENGINE.

EVERYTHING THAT I HAVE SEEN ON THE D/C PUMP IS FAVORABLE. I INTEND TO INSTALL IT, INITIALLY, AS AN IN-LINE BOOST PUMP. IF THAT SEEMS TO SOLVE MY OVERHEATING PROBLEMS THEN I'LL REMOVE THE MECHANICAL PUMP IMPELLER AND THE THERMOSTAT AND USE THE D/C THERMAL CONTROLLER.

DAVIES-CRAIG CAN BE REACHED AS FOLLOWS:

PHONE: 887-964-6305

E-MAIL: ili@importlogistics.com

THE FOLKS AT DAVIES-CRAIG WHERE VERY HELPFUL AND ACCOMODATING.

LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS.

Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAY DAY,

BLACKJACK

Re: In-Line Coolant Pumps

If you leave the mech pump in place, is the electric pump adversely affected when the thermostat is closed (no flow)?
