Rep Power: 14 | can someone identify this 302 water pump? I'd like to replace this water pump with an aluminium equivalent. Looking in the summit catalog there are many different types of water pump available.
Is this a left or right hand ? is it short or long?? could someone help me choose a suitable replacement please ?
Any info greatly appreciated! |

Rep Power: 25 | Re: can someone identify this 302 water pump? I used a Edelbrock alum Victor series that I got from jegs USA 1-800-345-4545, www.jegs.com
. Your current setup looks the same as mine with a passenger side inlet. Remember I have a Left Hand drive USA side car. Jeggs part number for a passenger side inlet alum edelbrock waterpump is 350-8841 $156.99 USD. Fits all 289,302.
This is a good part with a ball bearing suported shaft and a computer designed impeller. Not cheap but really well made. |

Rep Power: 25 | Re: can someone identify this 302 water pump? Oh.... I think that some of the early mustangs used a passenger side(USA) inlet like we need in our GTD's. I went out and looked at the box and it is a edelbrock part # 8841.
I don't believe this comes in more than 1 lenght but it fits in my GTD spot fine. I'm not sure about the belt alinement on your car because I built my accessory drive brackets myself. You might end up shimming the pulley. Why not go down to the parts house and measure the lenght of the pump. Mounting to timming chain cover surface to pully mounting surface. Compair to yours. |

Rep Power: 14 | Re: can someone identify this 302 water pump? Thanks everyone for the info. As I understand it, I need a passenger side inlet (USA) in ally. Howard thanks for the part no. I'll check it out.
Gary, you're pump wouldn't fit in a (my) GTD with air-con, as the inlet would be in the way of the compressor.
Here's a better pic of the pump with the pulley removed.... |

Here's a better pic of that thermostat housing. It suits the way the pipes are laid out in the GTD. |

Rep Power: 57 | Re: can someone identify this 302 water pump? Gotcha! Those are good pumps although the ford pieces can be made even better by welding a backing plate on the impeller if it doesn't have it. |

Rep Power: 10 | Re: can someone identify this 302 water pump? Hi Julian, That pump looks like the ones used on 1965/66 Mustangs with 289 engines (passenger side pipe in). I believe it was on that side to clear the, then low mounted, power steering unit(which was mounted on the Drivers side). I'm sure all of the current pump mfg's will make a replacement Ali unit.
cheers |

Moroso also makes an Aluminum one (Jegs) that is set up for 65/66 mustangs. That is what I use on mine. see photo. |
