T44 / top loader info required

Hi all,

I understand the T44 uses the standard gear set from a Top loader.
My question is - which one ? (i.e. from which car, or which transmission code)

Alternatively:
Close or wide ratio ?
size of input shaft & number of splines ?
I've been offered one anddon't know if the gear set is any good to me for
fitting in a set of T44 cases.

Cheers,
John.

The original pieces were probably from a Galaxie Close-ratio box. The input and output shafts were custom made, as were the forks and shift mechanism.

Re: T44 / top loader info required

Thanks bob, I did wonder just how much was of use.
Funny thing is, the ratios I have for a mkIV don't match any of the Galaxie/Fairlane/Cobra ones (except 4th, where they are all 1.0:1 ).

How are you guys getting on with your T44 replica (I think I recall your were working on one a while back).

Cheers,
John.

John,

Take a look at this thread on the Weismann Top Loader. It will give you a good starting point for your research. I have no idea how much information this guy will be willing to share, but he appears to have intimate knowledge of the transaxle.

Regards,
Lynn
