Aluminum Box To Isolate Webers

I have seen several pictures of engines with Webers, and what appears to be a "cold air box" that 1) isolates the webers from the headers, and 2) seals up against the back bonnet, thus making sure only cool air from the outside enters the Webers. Where can I source this from?

Get the Tig out and start fabricating. I'm not aware of anyone offering one. There are various differences between weber setups which would cause each to be unique. I've made a posterboard template and will be fabricating one shortly.

Below is a setup on 1033 with those sweet Gurney-Weslake heads!

I was afraid you were going to say that Neal. Actually, fabing one up shouldn't be too difficult Like you said, make a template first.

Bill,

If you are doing searches, the common name for these is "turkey pan", so try that in your search. I think the Lee Holman makes them, but they might be a bit pricey.

Contact these people, they may not have it, but I'd bet they can tell you where to get pre-fabbed turkey pans:

Neal,

Nice touch with the aluminized silicone fabric heat shielding on the back of the pan. I have a heat shield almost identical to rear wall of yours to protect the intake manifold and fuel rail from header heat on my car.

No dimensions, but I think I can duplicate it once my kit arrives and I can mock up everything.

Hi guys,
I have not posted in awhile, but have been lurking. I have built several "cold air boxes" for the CAVs and can tell you from experience that they are harder to fabricate than it would first appear. The differences between engines and bodies vary with almost every application. I have patterns for the stack fuel injection from Very Cool Parts to work with the Getreg and ZF Cav configuration but I doubt they would work for GT40s without modification.

Hi Ian,
Car is running great. Had a quick run up to 135mph the other day and all seems nice and tight. I do have the CAV/ZF cold air box worked out and installed but as I recall you were lowering the engine a little lower than mine so it would definitely be another custom set-up. I have supplied about four cold air boxes to other people, though, and so far they all fit. Looking forward to the pre-historics this weekend and the Monterey Historics the weekend after. I will try to find some good pictures of my intake to post.
