C6OE-M casting code help

I have been looking for a 1966 289 engine for my car and have been informed by my supplier that the seriel number is C6OE-M... now...

C6 = 1966

im ok with that but as far as i can tell this is a casting code for the heads on a 289 am i missing something or have i been sent the head casting code not the block?

Many thanks in advance

Re: C6OE-M casting code help

Doc,
Ask your suppier where he has read the casting info from. If he doesn't say right by where the starter motor should be then he's reading in the wrong place.

Doc-

From the Ford parts ID and interchange book:

Cylinder head part numbers:

C50Z-6049-B.......289HP.... 63/67

Re: C6OE-M casting code help

thanks guys i thought it was the head casting number... i think its off a 1966 hipo engine and the supplier has read the head casting number. Im assuming the engine has still got the starter motor on it which will 'hide' the block number.... i hope its a C6AE-E block i will ask and let you guys know (if your interested) apparently the HE block has a stronger bottom end.....

Thanks again

Re: C6OE-M casting code help

OK yes it was just the head casting the block is C6 AE - C

A 1966 289 6 bolt bellhousing, and its now got my name on it. It will be given the treatment....hot tank, rebore (if required) forged crank, h beam rods and 10.5 comp ratio on a 'mild' ish cam, correct duel outlet (or is it inlet) intake manifold and 48 ida's on top with correct oil pan and gurney-weslake covers. oh and Pro Action aluminium heads with roller lifters. I think I've finally got the engine i want..... lol

That brings my engine count to 3, hmmmm more money than sense....

Thanks for you help guys
