Does that all fit under a standard rear clip? Any burn-through on the paint yet?

The two longitudinal black boxes- panel filter? The big lateral one- IC?

Any more of a guided tour around this thing Paul? Sounds interesting...

Chris how is the aluminum GT restoration coming, any pictures of that?

If you're talking to me Andy, I'm pretty sure you've got the wrong Chris. You may be looking for "Chris K" whereas he refers to me as "Mr. Underscore." Regardless what you call me, I have no GT- yet!

Subtle difference, but it's early where you are.

Looks like club member Cosi Sergiovani's GTD to me, I think!

GTD Mk1, Alloy Fontana 'Clevor' block and his own, home made, semi-automatic transmission, hewn from Billet Aluminium!

Search on Sergiovani (maybe 2 ys+) and you'll find more.

Of course it could be another!- but I doubt it.

For some wierd reason, I thought Paul Thompson wrote the post as he frequently pitches in interesting tibits like this and didn't think about scrolling up to look. That's what I get for assuming...

Is there ever enough horsepower and torque? After seeing this thread, I wonder how many GT40 owners have gone beyond the limits of the cars' original chassis design specs?

Everything is relative I know, but the original Mk I dialed in at approx 400 hp so why bother with spending huge $$$ for an engine that makes 650+hp?

I guess what I'm getting at is - is there more to it than just ego, can the chassis/engine mounts etc. take that kind of punishment over a long period of time? Do you void any support from the manufacturer with that kind of power put into a turn-key minus? Can you honestly use that kind of power, even on the race track given the GT40 original specs?

You can trivialize the answer by saying that the GT40 is extreme to begin with, not practical in any way so what the hell?

I guess logic sometimes has no place - viva la testosterone!

This car is indeed Cossi's car. They both live in Perth, western Australia and Cossi has had the car for almost twenty years, maybe a little more.

I first came across the car in a magazine here in Australia and I have never actually seen it but I have talked with Cossi on many occasions about the car and I have many owners of Roaring Forties that are in constant contact with Cossi.

The car is indeed a GTD. The twin turbos product over 700 HP and the car fries the paint if the car is run in an ambient temperature of 24 degrees or more (at least half the time in sunny Perth). I believe that Cossi has repainted the rear clip MANY times as like us all he just can not help himself.

He has entered many hill climbs with a LOT of sucess and I have been told that he is always a croud favourite as he is frequently sidewards. I have also been told that he is a "good pedler" (read driver). The rear of the car has a very special perspex cover ala Ferrari F40 with a series of very large louvers allowing SOME of the heat to get out.

The gearbox was specially designed for the car and made in Australia. I believe it is a sequential dog box and is NOW fitted with a reverse gear. The gearbox cost well over Aus$20,000 and is something very special. I believe that the company that built it specialise in sand racers that put out HUGE HP.

A great car and a real nice guy that owns her.

650 hp is not unusual....most Can Am cars exceeded that,
and the Penske Panzer 930 did well over 1,000.
And of course the turbo F1 cars had similar hp in 1/2 the weight!

For street use, 650 is a lot...but there are an awful lot
of 5.0 Mustangs running around with over 600 hp happily
on the street. Just be careful how you use it.
