Rep Power: 3 | Crate engine suppliers? Superformance MKII will be here in May and Lloyd has informed me my tranny will be done in March. It's now time to start talking to engine suppliers. I have heard of the standard companies ie, Roush, KeithCraft, CHP, and Bischoff Racing. I have a couple months yet so hear are my thoughts:
Roush (Still in the race but pricing itself out of my checkbook)
Coast High Performance (I've heard more than once they are not reliable)
Bischoff Racing (They're in the race but might be alittle too hard core)
KiethCraft (Leading the race for my business based on rep and price)
I'm open to recommendations and additions to the list if inclined?
I'd like to make the best, most informed, decision I can so please help.
Regards
Rich. |

Complete engine pricing is on The Engine Shop link in my sig. World makes the castings, BMP assembles the engines. |

Rep Power: 5 | Re: Crate engine suppliers? My personal recomendation is Performance Engineering, Ross, OH. (513) 738-5001. Ask for Eric. I have purchased two engines from Eric. One a 351 stroker (418) for my SPF Cobra. Beautifully built, better components (IMHO) than Roush. Reliable beyond what I ever expected. I have never had one single issue with this motor. It just runs like a scalded dog. I did the install myself 4 years ago. The second motor is a 302 stroker (331) that is going into my SPF GT40. Perf Eng has been good to me so you might want to check them out.

Gordon Levy has built many cobra replicas and gt40 replicas and knows the industry quite well.

I thought his engines seemed a little dear, but it could be a case of you get what you pay for! He has a few issues with the email contact address on his website but you can get almost instant responses from glevy74@att.net
Gordon was a frequent poster on this forum a couple of years back.

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Crate engine suppliers? Russ, Thanks for the kind words. I am still around here from time to time.
My engines are not crate engines, they are hand built one at a time to what the customer wants. Looking through some of my pricing you will find I am not that far off most of the well known crate engine suppliers. I build custom engines. I am also a dealer for most of the aftermarket parts suppliers such as Koni, Wilwood, Quartermaster, Edelbrock, etc...

Rep Power: 3 | Re: Crate engine suppliers? Thanks for the info guys. So far Kiethcraft is still in the lead, but Eric at Performance engineering seems to be a good source aswell. It's getting pretty close to ordering time since lead times are in the 2 month range.
Again thanks
