Smile Look a like IDA Injection.

For all you die hards that must have the 'Weber' look, that have deep pockets & arms to match, but lack the patience & mechanical know how there may now be a solution. Check out Enter The World Of Mustangs With Attitude At Dynatek Racing , and their 'Classic Fuel Injection', they claim this setup can flow up to 2400cfm which would mean 300cfm per runner. Photos are small but it would appear to look very similar to the IDA's, injectors & fuel rails are hidden etc. Bolts on to any IDA manifold.

Other than checking out the website I have no knowledge or experience with the product, maybe some other Forum members have. At 300cfm per runner its still going to come up short on the big capacity stuff.

Re: Look a like IDA Injection.

How's about this manifold I put together a while ago ? The pots are 48mm straight bores to the butterflies with no venturis. Lucas style injectors.
I never tried it but wondered how much power it would give.

Re: Look a like IDA Injection.

Hi James -

Nice looking setup - Jenvey Dynamics?... I was up there earlier this week as I'm putting a set of 48s on a 347 at the moment. I'll post pics once I have it together.

I always thought about putting a set of injectors/rails below a turkey pan with a set of IDAs on top with the choke element removed to open them up a bit. I still wonder how that would have worked out as you'd have all the retro looks of Webers, but with the reliability and tunability of modern Efi.. and I think without the choke section, they'd surely flow better too..

Re: Look a like IDA Injection.

Check out Jenvey IDA style throttle bodies on Jenvey performance induction systems
They do 48mm and 50mm size. Pic attached. They are about £300 each. Air horns about £20 - £40 each. They don't yet do a SBF manifold but John Wisher does them at about £800 each in original FAV style (v. nice).
Cheers

Hi Guys
what a nice looking functional set up, sensible price too.
Hi Paul I like your idea with the IDA's might just go for that on my
347 Weslake motor.

Regards

Chris.

Re: Look a like IDA Injection.

I now have the Jenvey setup, awaiting to be fitted to 347 on an RF.

All looks very nice, centre pull (to rear) mechanism looks good and tbs look easily adjustable for air bypass. The injectors, sized for 450-530 BHP are nice too, 'Pico' items that are really quite small. If id realised just how small they were I might have had a look at the 'hidden injection' concept some time back as I'm sure they fit beneath a turkey pan relatively easily.

This is going to look good though (IMHO) and I look forward to the day she fires up for the 1st time. Throttle dia is 48mm and the trumpets are 40mm as specified, but I have option to swap for 60/90 or 120 should space permit.

A few pics.

Re: Look a like IDA Injection.

The picture used by Jenvey in their advertising is the first IDA set up Richard made and was for my car. They are of 50mm bore and I have found them to be faultless in operation on my 7.0ltr motor. Thoroughly recommended !!

Re: Look a like IDA Injection.

I saw the Dynateck FI webers in Tulsa at the Shelby meet and they actually look like webers. They have a very slick set up. No fuel rails and weber style fuel lines. It really doesn't look like FI.

Re: Look a like IDA Injection.

Dean, did they talk about how the system is managed? How does it set up without programming? Programming is the worst part of these weber look systems from what I can gather. I am considering the Mass Flo system since it is true mass system and not speed density,of course it has the carb look not stacks. chuck

Re: Look a like IDA Injection.

They have all the computer stuff to go with their system, complete for around 6k. I really don't understand all that stuff. I just understand the Webers! I think they are much less complicated.

Guys,-- Back To The TOP,

If you now go to the Dynatek site that I posted at the start of this thread they now have decent pics up of the system. This setup actually looks like a set of IDA's, not just a set of throttle plates & trumpets like the others you have posted.
I have no connection etc with Dynatek , nor have I ever used any of their stuff, the Idea of using copy of the basic IDA casting with injectors etc neatly packaged internally out of sight just seems a cool idea particularly in the case of the engines you are now building with greater airflow requirements than the std IDA can deliver, but still retain the 'original look'.

Jac Mac,
Those pictures of the Weber lookalikes appear to be new to the Dynatek web site.
Vey nice - and I am very interested.

So am I , but due to my Scottish ancestry I think I might be casting up my own throttle bodys that 'lookalike', anyone got a spare 58mm IDA that would do for a pattern that is past its use by date?

Re: Look a like IDA Injection.

With the help of Mike Trusty, I've got a system based on TWM throttle bodies and an Electromotive TEC3r ECU and am in the process of installing it now.

I've got most of the basic installation done. Pending is the trigger wheel, final wiring hookup and tuning.

FWIW,

Kirby
