Is this a good shape for a GTD build? will anything get in the way of anything? (standard engine build, road going car)

Simon - I can't speak in regard to suitability (shape-wise) for a GTD but I can tell you that the double-hump-sump was one of the worse abominations ever created by the blue-oval... Best to find something aftermarket that has better oil control..

A couple of things really;

Some of the front sumps had drain plugs in them - many did not. The front sump collects sediment from engine wear, etc until it breaks loose and goes through the oil pump in small chunks.

Most were not baffled at all. They had very poor oil control in cornering as well as braking.

Under braking - Without a windage tray or baffling, the oil leaves the front sump and is directed right up to the center of the rotating mass. This has a tendancy to whip the oil and aireate it - sometimes to the point of foaming..

Sorry - just not a big fan of the design...
