I'm contemplating painting my headers with VHT white. Do you think that would look dumb?

Back in the 70's white headers were fairly common. I wouldn't say they looked "dumb". If you like it, go for it. Besides, paint is cheap; if you don't like the results you can just repaint them.

Back in the day I had my headers sprayed with a molten aluminum process which came out white (as seen below) and was extremely durable. The VHT paint doesn't last long but as has been said - cheap to repaint..

Bill, consider flame spray with pure aluminium, will give same look but much greater protection, Frank

Saw a set done in Black Ceramic coating and they looked awesome..

I went with VHT flat black after the silver ceramic fell off mine, we'll see how long that lasts.

The black headers and pipes really set off the engiine and susppension...Nice.

BTW Interesting valve covers...What make?

Also can you provide details re the rear clip leather straps. I want to install some type of arresting straps on 2125 and yours look "period correct".

My experience with VHT was that there was a run-in period after painting, and the coating was very prone to picking up stains from the installation just from handling...cleanliness was a must, but after the coating had been heat cycled it was pretty durable.

Ron...do I see some toe out in droop on your rear suspension? Maybe the camera lens, but the cleanliness and detail look super.

Aluminum would look great. Black ceramic for me. The coating really helps with heat dissipation and keeps the under clip temperatures down.

There is a white ceramic that looks similar to your blasted suspension pieces.

Bill, just some thoughts, if the mufflers are flat black, I would tend to keep the system uniform and go all black or all white. I've had my system white for eight years now and it is tough to keep them clean. You can respray periodically in place but you have to mask the engine bay, which is again tough. I used VHT paint the last respray and like it so far. For what it's worth, you might just go black and save some trouble down the road. If you're still doing the gulf theme, they were black as you know. On my friend's Daytona coupe replica, they ceramic coated in white, which failed, recoated in silver, and then painted them white.

I'm kind of partial to 304 stainless and the way it burnishes with a few heat cycles.

Here's what mine look like Bill. I'm planning to replace them at some point with proper cross-overs, but won't keep the white. They get marred and dirty easily. If you do them yourself, you can always change it later if you don't like the outcome.

I went stainless on this one. On the Daytona Coupe I went white. And on the roadster ceramic. I like em all on the right car..... All depends on the rest of the package. On the Gulf livery....not so sure. I kinda like the aluminum coating mentioned above for your set up.
