Dipstick hole in timing cover

If people have used oil sumps such as Canton etc and then used the screw in dipsticks directly into thesump. What have people done on the old dipstick hole on the timing cover? Just turned a plug up or something? Thanks

Brett

Small plug. Freeze plug kits usually come with a small one.

Brett

My Ford Racing engine has a Canton sump, the timing case had a hex plug in place on delivery

Re: Dipstick hole in timing cover

I used a cap head bolt, silicon sealer on the threads and a washer and nut and some Loctite on the inside. It's been on there for 22,000 miles with no leaks.

Brian.
