Exhaust - welding passing pipes

Currently building headers...

Out of interest, when you have pipes passing within 1-2mm of each other, is it better to route them to the point of touching each other and weld them together? Or leaving them apart.

I might add that there is no room to separate them any further...

The pic shows an example, however my layout is giving 1-2mm clearance between similar pipes.

I would leave them separate, as the tubes need room to "move" as they heat and cool. Welding them together(especially at one tiny point) could lead to cracks.
That's what I would do............

I agree with Dave...

Troy, can I ask where you bought your air-cleaners from?

I like those very much and would like a set to top off my Webers...

Sorry Randy, that's not my car. I just used the pic to illustrate my point.

I have an proper engine in the back of my '40... Just kidding. I like Fords too :)
