Gurney weslake valve covers

My hard cast aluminum valve covers hit the valve train when trying to fit. Have any of you had this issue? Did you just grind the offending area or use adapters to raise them? This stuff is tough as hell and difficult to grind.

There have been different manufacturers do the GW covers so clearances differ. Spacers will work, but I know some of the covers will clear most roller rockers.

Or as you say, a lot of time with the grinder.........

Depending on how ban your clearance issue is... There is a source for an extra thick valve cover gasket that might help. Otherwise you need to either modify the baffles, mounting bosses or just get the spacers.

Grinding off aluminum is a tough task, but using a disc that is created for aluminum (doesn't load up like a regular abrasive disc) is a wonderful tool, they work as well as any of the other ferrous-oriented discs on steel, and price is pretty comparable (at least for the smaller discs).
