need a starter for G50

I have a RCR GT 40 with a 302 Ford motor mated to a G50. What starter do I need?

HiTorque starter would be a good place to start, they're made to index and adapt to just about any setup.

With that said, depends on the flywheel\clutch selection, position of the starter and if the G50 has been shortened (must do for a GT40). My drivetrain is a G50\351W\Tilton carbon clultch, I wanted to use the starter "pocket" on the transaxle which required a custom made flywheel to fit the clutch pack and get the ring gear to mate with the starter pinion gear.

I don't recommend this route and if I were to do it again I would mount the starter on the engine side of the adapter plate. I'm guessing that's the common location thus easier to source a starter and flywheel.

Kennedy sells one (300 I think), and or you can use a porsche starter too. Porsche reman is between 4-500. (I put one on the RCR when the hi-tork mini starter got tired) S

Ron I did buy the car complete but had to tear it down to the frame and start over.
And this is just one of the many problems I have to deal with.

Below is a picture of the way the starter was mounted when I bought the car.
I think there is a starter that will bolt up correctly. I just need to find it.

This seems to be very close to what I did to re-clock my starter a number of years ago, although I think my mounting system is much more robust..

STARTER

There are other re-clockable (is that a word?) starters out there now.. I will be sticking with what I have until it proves itself to be unreliable..

Can someone give me a parts number or information on a starter that will fit my car.

We use a similar starter --with a clockable adapter flange and this Porsche ring gear 950 116 143 01

Sorry about the delay on the part number. (just got back to Daytona today)

Part number for Bosch reman porsche starter is SR68X

I think the part was around 300 with a 75 dollar core...... Scott

What version of the G50 are you using? I have a car that I am building with a G50-05 and I am having the same issue that you are . The Bosch starter that I bought from CMS looks quite a bit different than yours. The drive is quite a bit longer.

All I know it what the orginal owner told me.

"It's a 1989 five speed G50, the shortest version there is."

FWIW, I have the same exact application. Here's my adapter/indexer, fairly stout, and clears the RCR hardware.
