Water Fuel Separator GT40

I noticed some water in the fuel tanks probably due to condensation (during ventilation). :veryangry:

I was wondering if someone is using a water fuel separator ?
And if so, which brand ?
A separator which can be drained ?
What if the drain starts to leak ?

Looking for some experience in the field (lessons learned).

Hi Andy

If you go to your local ship's chandlers, boat equipment suppliers, they have a decent range of fuel filter/water separators available.

They come with either plastic or glass bowls so you can see if there is any water and they are available with either drains fitted or the bowl unscrews to empty out.
Great for trapping water and dirt before it gets into your pump.

I run the supply from the tank into a filter separator then to another filter and then to the low pressure pump then to the swirl pot and draw clean fuel into my high pressure pump for the injectors with my return to the swirl pot and the overflow back to the tank.
My 40 has been running this way since 2008 and 35000Km with out a fuel problem.

Dimi.
