Will this oil sender leak?

Tried to tighten it up today. The upper flanged/crimped portion spins inside the bell portion when torquing the fitting on. Also, the stud on the end of the bell spins and flops around without any tension on it. Is there a component inside (diaphragm?) which may be compromised?

Yes, put it on your shelf or trophy cabinet, -"offerings to the god of speed". Probably obvious now, but they have that hex head nut at end of yellow arrow for a reason! The stud with the red arrow actually has a square shank IIRC that matches a square hole in the cover so the stud for the terminal will not turn while you tighten that nut with fiber washer-then you use another nut to secure the spade terminal or whatever wiring end you choose.
