Does anyone know if the fuel injectors on a Borla 8 stack induction on a Ford 351 Winsor the same as for a crate Ford Boss 302. I know the intake would have to change but not sure if anything else would have to change. Any input or suggestions???? Thank you

Ed Taylor at Borla may have some answers. 805 246 6045. If it's an early Boss ( 1970 ) don't expect ANY bottom end tq.

One more thing, let me know what dist. you will use. I am building my own dual sync to fit a 427W.

Re: Borla induction help

Bill, thank you for the information. Iím using a new casting Ford crate Boss 302 engine supposedly a block stronger than the original 69-70. I will be installing the Borla 8 stack induction requiring the small diameter MSD 8579 distributor with an MSD 6AL ignition box.

Re: Borla induction help

I have been to hell and back over the fuel rail and distributor fit. The fella that fit the 8 stack had to cut and weld the fuel rails, I had a fuel leak and did not like the extra fuel lines ness to feed the rails without the cross over. I'm new to dual sync and hall effect signal and had to learn fast.
Dist. # 1 was a holly 565 101, a dual sync, but to tall. # 2, Ed at Borla told me to use MSD # 8578, nice fit but had the old signal to work with MSD box but not with Holly HP system. # 3, a holly part # 565 111 I was happy to find out that Holly just came out with this new low profile, dual sync dist. a couple of months ago but it hit the manifold half way down. I am now building my own using parts from Holly and MSD
My install is on a 427W

Re: Borla induction help

Your 302 will love running at 4500 plus. I would consider using Windsor heads on it.
I have a brand new 70 Boss engine with an Autolite inline in the shop, a sweet piece but not sure what to do with it. The 70s trans am days are all gone.

Re: Borla induction help

George, getting back to your original question - you should not require a different injector going to the 302 from the 351.

In short, it's not so much the size of the injector that varies......it's the duty cycle of the injector, and the fuel pressure. The 302 will (most likely) call for a shorter duty cycle....meaning the injector is open for a shorter period of time. The duty cycle is dependent upon the spec you set (ie. engine size) in the setup. If the Borla system is "self learning" then it will adjust the duty cycle to get the right AFR based upon the signal coming from the 02 sensor.

Moving down in engine size typically doesn't require a different injector as the programming will shorten the duty cycle. Moving up in engine size is also usually OK, up to the point where the duty cycle is 100% in order to feed enough fuel.....which isn't optimal.

Re: Borla induction help

Cliff thank you for your helpful information. I should be able to buy a Borla 302 intake manifold and transfer the trottle bodies and fuel rails from the 351 manifold?

Bill, the Boss comes with aluminum GT40 X Heads and is a nice setup for the money. I donít plan to race the car, especially in Miamiís crowded roads. You should have no problem selling your Boss block on this forum. Not too many good original blocks left. Thanks for your input.

George, I'm not 100% because I haven't seen the 302 Borla right next to the Borla 351 manifold, but the TB's should transfer over fine. The fuel rails may be on the same spacing....but may not be. Same goes for the linkage I think...if the spacing is different then the linkage will need some work to adapt.
