Rep Power: 16 | Re: Smiths vs Autometer Instruments Autometer has a new line of gauges that replicate the look of Smiths gauges. They have designs for 427 and FIA cobras. I'm using a set of the 427-based gauges for my project. The look without the pain... |

Rep Power: 58 | Re: Smiths vs Autometer Instruments Those look good! And, I bet their electric with the full dial look, instead of the electric Smiths that are only half face designs. To get the full 300 degree sweep in Smith's they have to be mechanical.
Advantage Autometer, plus, they work.

Rep Power: 26 | Re: Smiths vs Autometer Instruments Wow, you guys are seriously ragging on the Smiths gauges. What's the deal, are they British or something?
Really...why is everyone so down on them? I know for a fact that the Autometer boost gauge is much less accurate than, say, Greddy. |

No Hot rod stuff, as it is the way i see on other stuff !
No offense, just my view.
They´ll work, if they´re ok..
Like everything else..
Large parts of the car industry used Smiths as well as the negatively down written Lucas electrics..
Some still do...
Just a matter of personal opinion.
The GT40 is a "60s" car to me !
Should there fore have that sort of "appearance", if you ask me !
I would hate a digitally instrumented Cobra with modern seats and a BMW engine and GT racing spoilers on...for example..
But, it´s a free world
So..

P.S those new classic Autometer instruments do look good, thou...
You have my "blessing" !!! |
