Re: Bulkhead Window Dimensions

Brian,
If it's not broken into a bunch of pieces just fit it together and trace around it on a sheet of paper or cardboard. Then take it to any auto glass shop and they can cut you out another. It will be super cheap too.
My street rod was done this way. I think all the flat safety glass I had cut was under $100. There were four pieces.

Brian
If you have John Stone's GT40 cd, it has a picture of the bulkhead window in the "Videos of parts and tips #6".
He also said that if you email him at gt40ford@juno.com he will give the dimensions of it.
Better still if John is reading this, could you post the dimensions here ?
thanks

Bulkhead Window Dimensions

Does anyone have the dimensions for an original Mk 1 rear bulkhead window? I broke mine (GTD) messing with it in the garage and since I need a new one, I might as well purchase or have the correct (looking)one made.
Thanks
Brian

Re: Bulkhead Window Dimensions

Thanks for the advice guys, Hersh I want to replace mine with a more authentic looking article, the GTD one I have is an oval shaped one and the ones I can see in John Allen,s book are trapezoidal, or more like an inverted bottom of a big triangle. They are much bigger too. But now I know I can have one made in a shop
I will send an inquiry to John Stone to see what he may have for measurements.Brian

Re: Bulkhead Window Dimensions

Brian,

The original mid window was the same shape as the access hole in the rear clip for the webbers.

Look from the rear of the car into the carby area and you will see a trapezodial shape hole at the rear. Project this forward to the firewall bulkhead and this should be the shape.

Best wishes,

Robert

Re: Bulkhead Window Dimensions

Brian,

I received your email and will get you the dimensions tomorrow (via email). Maybe you can post them on the forum, as I have not yet figured out how to add a photo or sketch to the postings. (Chris Melia is a wizard I think).

I'll also send some info about the GT40 Cd. It sells on Ebay but isn't listed at this moment (maybe I'll get it back on this monday).

Have fun!

John

Re: Bulkhead Window Dimensions

Clayton and GT40 world,

I have the dimensions for the rear bulkhead window on MS WORD. If any of you need it, just email me and I'll send it to you.

Clayton, How'd you like the GT40 cd? Ron Earp helped me update the original version, as there were more builders to link to than first realized.

Have fun!

Re: Bulkhead Window Dimensions

Why do manufacturers of replicas produce rear bulkhead windows that are the wrong shape when it seems easy (to me as a non manufacturer) to make a proper shaped window so making their cars more authentic?

Re: Bulkhead Window Dimensions

Hi all

As Robert Logan pointed out, its the same shape and size as the cut out in the rear clip.
I actually had my window double glazed to reduce noise and heat transfer into the cockpit. The cost was about $40 and well worth the extra effort.

Regards

Chris
