Rep Power: 5 | F O R D letters wanted(road car) I own GT 40 1063P. I am searching for the F O R D letters that are on the front of my car, as replacements(I am restoring my front end, due to fibreglass crazing). I am trying to locate the English Ford that those four letters were originally used on. I wish to buy the letters with the retainer clips. I have been in email contact with Ken Saunders, but no luck so far. I have been advised that the Ford Granada may have been the English Ford with those letters, but this is only rumor. I have done pencil tracing of my F O R D letters, and can forward these via email. Sure would appreciate your help.
In addition, I have a handbrake(chromed) handle-top, similar to an umbrella handle, and black toothed perpendicular rod, only(mine is a road car). I do not have anything else to connect the vertical toothed rod to a cable and to back of my brake pedal. Do you have any source for information as to the dimensions and names of the parts necessary to complete this installation. I do have the blue book illustration of what the parts look like, but have no idea what the sizes would be. Of course I could guess as to the length of the cable, but have no idea of the cable's thickness.

There are two sizes of Ford letters used the nice ones come from a Mk1 Ford Escort and the handbrake is from a Ford Anglia.
Brian Stewart in Newzeland is your best bet as there are many old Fords in Breaker's yards there.

I have seen P1063 back when Gary had first done the restoration, it was fabulous!
I was under the understanding that the letters were from the MkI Escort, but I could be wrong.

Rep Power: 7 | Re: F O R D letters wanted(road car) Hey, Barry! Haven't touched based with you in a while! Give me a call or send e-mail. I think that my GT40 #P1040 had the F-O-R-D lettering stuck on the nose during the cluge Sbarro "restoration" (HA!) in the early 1970s (memory fails at moment; will check the nose clip when I get home this evening), but I don't think that it's appropriate for an original race coupe. If I can find the letters, we can do a swap for something that I need for my 40 or S/C Cobra--or maybe a root canal or two! |

Rep Power: 12 | Re: F O R D letters wanted(road car) No, the letters on the original road cars were more of a block letter style like on some Ford trucks, although much smaller. The letters you have were also used on 1967 Mustangs. I used these on my car since they are close and I figured the original styled ones would be difficult to get. |
