Wheel Centers

My Compomotive wheels have centers that are 65 mm (2 9/16"). Right now there are glue in metalized emblems that say Compomotive in them. I'd really like to have centers that either have the GT emblem or Ford logos on them. I thought I had found what I was looking for on eBay from a Brazilian seller, but he no longer has the 65 mm emblems shown below. Does anyone know where I can find something along these lines? Thickness isn't a big issue (to a point of course) paper thin up to ~0.25" would probably work.

I hope I have found a solution. I have bought four center covers for Ford Ranger pickup wheels from eBay. The centers of the centers are very close to 65mm in diameter. They are chrome with the script Ford in the oval logo on them. My plan is to cut the centers out and then figure out some way to bond them into the centers of my wheels.

Lynn, Before you cut them scan them into your computer and print them out with your color printer and put one under a flashlight lens. I printed my GT-40 center and glued it to my CAV center and it has lasted 2 years without any cover on it. To late Joseph. I only paid $25 for the four, so its not like I am out big bucks. I chucked a 1/8" grout removing bit (Dremel or Zip, can't remember which) in my drill press and took my sweet time cutting them out. Then sized them using a grinder, 50 grit/80 grit sanding belt (the 80 being about 1/2 worn out). I also had to thin them quite a bit using the two sanding belts also. I am pleased with the results.

I am curious; what kind of adhesive did you used to attach your centers? I have used double sided tape, but I noticed one edge lifting slightly. Now it may be that I just didn't press it down well enough, but if I see that the tape isn't holding well enough, I would appreciate some input on the best adhesives to use for this application.

Boy does your 40 look great and what a beautiful color blue. Before I go any further I need to explain that I was ill and on a prescription drug when I first read your post and suggested you print the centers. Some how I got the word (steering) before wheel and I was talking about the " 5th " wheel and you were talking about the other 4 wheels. As for the glue, I use spray adhesive on both parts that will be glued together then let dry for a few seconds then push them together and it works very well on parts that even get wet. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Presumably the wheel center will get hot from brakes. It is difficult not to transfer some heat to the wheels and if so ordinary double sided tape may not cope too well.

How about specialist tape that they use for fitting the balancing weights to alloy wheels? I believe that this stuff can be purchased with different heat tolerences and it is made for this area of the car.

I'm sure someone on the forum will know more about this stuff than me!
