REVERSE GEAR LOCKOUT LATCH

Hi there just wondering if anyone knows if the genuine GT40 reverse gear latch on the gear lever gate hinged up or down as I am trying to decide from my limited resources how it operates so that I can make mine as close as possible on my car,Any help would be appreciated.

The hinge is at the far side of the latch, so you flip it away from you (towards the front of the car) before going into reverse.

If you have the book THE GT40 Production & race history individual chassis record by Trever Legate there is an exploded view on page 216 of the gear lever,gate and gear lockout latch. This picture I used in reverse to make my latch for the Renault 21 turbo gearbox gate pattern which required the latch to hinge from the rear and although the car is not on the road as yet it seems to work fine.
