Do you want Eyeball vents?

This is just to test the water.
Im looking into a limited production run of Zephyr MK 4 eyeball vents.
As fitted to original MK 1's.
Im awaiting a report on costings, but just wanted to see what the demand for them might be.
They will be identical to the originals, except you may have to fabricate your own cranked bracket to mount them. Ill know more about that issue soon.
Please give me some feedback. Am i barking up the wrong tree?

Thanks Guy's
The more interest i get, the more likely the price will be sensible.
So thanks for your replies.
PaulW, when you say others, how many sets other than yours might that be?
I dont suppose anyone knows if the companies making cars , such as RCR,Frank Catt etc would be interested?
Anyway, ill post any more details as i get them. Please be aware that in the end, it might be too expensive. But my fingers are crossed.

Question - don't manufactuer's already have a source for these? I know the RF cars have eyeball vents as do the Superformance cars in pictures, ditto the ERA's I've seen. Can't remember about the CAV's I've seen.

There are many styles of eyeball vent available and yes, most manufacturers use a particular style. Some of these are still reasonably readily available (e.g. from MK II Escort, MK II, III, IV and IV Cortinas, plus any number of after market ones). The eyeballs used on original cars, however, are the ones used in the early MK IV Zephyr/Zodiac (see attached picture). These are now as rare as the proverbial rocking horse s**t. For those hankering for originality, these items are very much sought after.

Cheers,

Brian.

Gotcha. Considering there is only one replica that has a chassis close (not counting self builts) to the original with period looking uprights, bits, etc. and I'm getting a space frame instead of it, I can probably skip on the original looking vents! ;-) I'd never really looked that closely at them to be honest.

Charlie, I've spoken to a few people I know and so far I would definately need 5 pairs inc. myself if they are the right price. I'll go to the club meeting next week and see how many takers are there - I suspect at least double the 5. Is it worth contacting any of the manufacturers to see if they are interested ?
Also were the original items fixed or did they move - just that it is hard to tell from the pictures I have of them.

Hi Paul,
Many thanks for updating me as to interest. I believe the eyeball moves as it does on other eye ball vents.Ive still no prices yet, but should get them soon. The original still needs to get to the maufacturer. As soon as i have a realistic idea, ill post to all.
Keeping fingers crossed here.

Charlie,
Please put my name on your list. Need (1) pair, maybe (2) pairs depending on cost. Do you have an original set to duplicate ? Thanks for the effort, Robert

Eye ball vents, There are a lot of suppliers in the US . Anyone checkout Street Rodders Mag.The Best, Kevin

Charlie, since I make original spec.GT40 MKI bodies to sell with the left or right dash panels, it would be nice to offer these Eyeball Vents. If I don't supply them with the body, then I coule refer people to you. I know I'll need a set for my GT anyway.

However, a friend has located some vents. When these get to me, ill pass them on in the order that people have expressed a wish for a set, on this thread.
