Mk.II front hinges

Hi all,
does anybody have any idea which car the hinges on the front "nostril" panel on the Mk.II were borrowed from? I assume it was an American car (probably but not necessarily a Ford) and being a Brit I am not all that up to speed on American cars of the 60s

Many thanks again

Re: Mk.II front hinges

Craig-

I noticed this a while ago as well and posted the question on THIS THREAD. I remember more traffic on it regarding alternate hinge sources (same overall shape, but less expensive) but don't remember what they were. Try the search function though as everything always seems to be discussed somewhere on the forum. Just need the correct keywords.

Re: Mk.II front hinges

Racezone,
Steve Barker has worked out these hinges for his MDA.
Please use your search tool on "hinges" and you will get your answer.

James

Thanks for the compliment, I am in awe of the thigs that you turn up!

Here is a picture of the ones I made from Mimi door hinges. you need to take the bevel off the hinges that account for the curvature of the side of the original car.

I bought a set of ali hinges (4) they are all diferent LH RH top and bottom, so I have a spare pair.

Re: Mk.II front hinges

Steve,

cracking job on those, hats off to you.

I for one would still like to know what the originals came from though.

Steve B,
Top notch home engineering IMO.
Good fortune with the rest of your build.
