Some cars have the driving light buckets, headlight buckets and inside rear deck painted black. Is there a right or wrong way? My car is going to be red with white stripes.
The right way is to do what you prefer, of course. If you're going for historical accuracy, you need to research the exact car you wish to replicate. If you check some of the images I posted in the gallery (http://www.gt40s.com/gallery/index.php?q=m ) you'll see a 66 road and a 65 race (original cars) done each way.
For my car, I decided to go for the black trim to clean up the appearance as I found the unpainted covers looked unfinished. See my before/after below.
