Who nose which nose and why?

Can anybody enlighten me as to the difference in practical and engineering terms between the GT40 nose with a single orifice radiator outlet (like the image Ron has chosen for the top of each page - JW Racing style) and the twin outlet style that has been used by other cars?

My theories so far are:

1: One or the other produced more stability (downforce) at high speeds.
2: One or the other provided more efficient cooling.
3: The twin outlet allowed room for the spare tyre.
4: One or the other reduced turbulence over the rest of the car.
5: The single outlet allowed a larger cover and gurney flap for stability at high speeds.
6: There was a change in the structure and a bracing strut across the outlet (like a couple of Mk II's) was no longer required.
7: The styling department got involved and thought one or the other was a bit naff.
8: They saw the future and decided to confuse nerds forevermore.

Freewheel,

I think that your alternatives are in the right order of Valid -> Invalid with the cross over being slightly skewed towards the lower numbers.
