Rep Power: 10 | 2" dial bezels and colour.... My ammeter finally arrived today and the bezel is a 'V' which is not legal here in the UK, anybody know if or where I can get a 'half-round' bezel that will satisfy UK laws. Also what colour red should the inner dial be (its cream at the moment)?
I was thinking ferrari red....

Is this a SVA thing? What is a V bezel? What would happen if tape were put over the offending gauge? As you probably know, if we have an inoperative gauge on an aircraft that is not necessary for ops we just cover it up. Can you simply do the same? |

Rep Power: 10 | Re: 2" dial bezels and colour.... The 'V' is the shape of the cross section of the bezel, the bezel being the (chrome or black) metal surround which holds the gauge glass in place. Apparently for SVA here in the UK they are not allowed as if you strike it at speed they can cut. Only rounded bezels are allowed (that is to say a cross section of the bezel has to be a semicircle of 10mm diameter... I think). 'Permenant' padding should sort it out or placing it near the steering wheel which exempts any 'sharp' objects as you would hit the wheel first in any shunt.
I'm not overly concerned as SVA is a far away dream at the moment but with these cars it pays to plan ahead.
