Original paint color

I am trying to paint my car on the original 66 Ford Linden Green.
I can not find the modern equivalent to that color in the paint charts that are on the market.
Does anyone have any idea of the original color code?
Any clues to find it?

Re: Original paint color

Oddly enough, it appears that PPG does not list paint codes unless one is subscribed to the PPG website. All of my older links do not bring up the pages anymore.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I can only find Linden Green as a 1967 Pontiac GTO paint code - H Code to be exact. There may be a Euro paint equivalent.

See pic.

Re: Original paint color

Victors,

Try the 1958-59-60 Ford color samples. I think you'll find it there.

Very nice choice, by the way.

Re: Original paint color

Thanks for your comments, folks.
I have been searching on this web

http://www.getppgcarpaint.com

And the only Linden Green I could find was on 1976 GM vehicles.
I have just found a 1959 Lincoln color chart in which it appears a Linden Green color.
Would this one be the same as the one they used in 65/66/67? I mean, will the shade of both colors be the same being from different model years?

Paint is always a very complicated business!

Re: Original paint color

The GT40 MKI was made in Britain.
It's more likely to be the Linden Green from a September 1961 Ford Anglia or Consul Cortina

Re: Original paint color

Victors,

You've got some Bloodhound in you! Congrats on the discovery!

From what I understand, the color was pulled out of the past, so to speak, when P1006 and P1008 were painted originally. During my search for this same color chip, I've been unable to locate this color in Ford sample books from 1962. While that could be due to looking through incomplete catalogs (which can't be ruled out at this late date!), what I've learned since about the color confirms where you found the sample.

As for whether the Ford version of Linden Green matches its namesake from GM, I don't think I'd bet too much on that...

Best,

T.

Re: Original paint color

Fran,
I retired last month. Now going green with boredom.

But I've always liked 1008 in it's old livery and thought of giving it a go myself.

Re: Original paint color

Thank you all.
You are probably right Jimmy Mac. It will be a Ford UK color, and the Anglia one seems right to me.
Checking the codes on the link on your answer, what are those codes for? What´s the meaning? How can I transfer those to PPG system?
Last, Do you guys think the 1959 Lincoln Linden Green would be the same as the Ford UK color?
I know the GM color will not be. No way Jose! But curious about how close could it be the actual color, with the same name, in both sides of the Atlantic.

Hi Jimmy

I am surprised at yu - if you have just retired, you autta know betta
your pic is of a 100E, not a 105E. the 105E was the later "sloping back window" Anglia. The 100E is of the same lineage as the Consul
There was also a 107E (I think) which was the 100E body styling, but with the later OHV engine from the 105E range, produced for a short period between the phasing out of one and the introduction of the other, and could be identified by the side trim having an extended angled section at the front, as can be seen below.

Re: Original paint color

Richard,
Please don't confuse this thread and learn to spell Basingstoke before you have a pop.
The car in the picture is painted in a late 50s/60s generic Ford Europe colour and the colour mixing chart does say Consul.
Where I come from this may be called lateral thinking. The other green car depicted is a GT40 by the way.

Engineering Project Manager retired. (found out how things work)

Re: Original paint color

Victors, Fran,
OK here we go, PPG codes as follows :

Date : 1966

Manufacturer : Ford Europe
Colour : B / FOR.B:66 - LINDEN GREEN

Rev Date : 10/02/1978

PPG will mix it in DN UHS and DN DG Primer systems

I have the exact formulae for both paint systems but I'm forbidden by copyright to copy this material, but if your PPG guy can't fix it for you send me a PM.

The beers are on you Fran
