Comstock 1037 colors

I am building a model of Comstock 1037 (now in Utah) and am confused over colors painted on this car. I know the Canadian team had white cars with dark green stripes.

In detailed photos from Daytona 2002 you can see clearly that the chassis and interior paint is light blue.

Questions start to fly...

Were the Comstock cars hand-me-downs from the Gulf team?
Were the Comstock cars just delivered new with the light blue paint?
At some point in time did a former owner repaint this car as a Gulf car, only to later have only the body repainted to the original racing colors?

The photos I saw were on scaleautosport.com

Thanks for any help on the subject.
Scott

Hi Scott,

The forum has subcategories and we encourage you to use them. I'll put this in the exterior/paint forum.

Re: Comstock 1037 colors

I was under the impression that many of the early cars were trimmed in blue inside--to include blue leather on the steering wheel? If so, then it's probable that what you're seeing is the original setup.

It's tough to tell from B&W historical photos though.

Re: Comstock 1037 colors

Mike,
Maybe the car was blue underneath the skin all along.

The photos I saw on scaleautosport.com were detailed color images at Daytona 2002.

Check for yourself (I'm not big about borrowing images from elsewhere - but I can get people there).

Thanks for the input.
