Rep Power: 2 | Ultra-Shield seats, experiences? This is a question regarding Ultra-Shield seats as far as I can tell these have not been discussed on the forum before…
Firstly I’m not building a ‘40’. But I have the familiar problem of a low roof to deal with (follow link in sig if you wish to know more).
I’ve been search for a relatively cheap (in Australia) seat with decent lay-back that is not of questionable quality (OBX anyone?).
So my search lead me to Ultra-Shield seats which look good VFM and I can pick up on my next trip to the states but before I go that far I’d really like to know of anyone’s experience in fitting these into a ‘40’ type car. The model I was looking at was the Pro Road Race.
Thanks, |

| Re: Ultra-Shield seats, experiences? Well made seats Doug. I've used them and installed them in Stock Cars as well as Roadrace cars. Consistant quality and nice materials. I think the seat covers are a little more nicely done than Kirkey but they're slightly more expensive. |

Rep Power: 2 | Re: Ultra-Shield seats, experiences? The RaceTech seats look to be as upright as regular bucket seats the Ultra-Shield interested me as they come with a 20 degree recline in them already so going another 10 degrees if required shouldn't cause too much of a drama.
BTW by pure chance I found a local race-supply shop that has the Ultra-Shields in stock but at A$695 they're a bit more than the US$371 (A$422) quoted on the Ultra-Shield web site. |

I used an Ultra sheild seat for two seasons in my Late model stock car. They are .125 thick and not too bad for the price but they are not a Butler bulit seat by any means. |

The NZ site is not showing it anymore, but RT used to do a layback seat called the Saker. You can still find info on the web such as here: http://www.on-trackperformance.com/R...ng%20seats.htm
Maybe they still do them?

Rep Power: 2 | Re: Ultra-Shield seats, experiences? Those look really good I assume being NZ that the Saker refers to Saker Cars. I will have to investigate them further.
I'd have thought they'd have got more press than they do as seats that fit '40' type cars seem thin on the ground. Of course if I were building a '40' I'd want the seats to look like the original items myself. |

I have just asked the nearest Aust dealer for these seats for some pricing.
I will keep you posted. They are great looking seats, but still not FIA approved. BUGGER!
