| Single Wiper Arm / Blade - Sources? Hi Guys,
Has anyone a good source for a Single Wiper Arm / Blade assembly for these cars? My car has the bump for the wiper arm on the right side (RHD) but my car is a Left Hand Drive - so I'd like to find a Wiper Arm assembly that will reach over to take care of direct line of sight..
In all honesty - I would forgo the wiper altogether but the state inspection will require it for registration purposes..
Thanks! |

Have you looked at some of the harchback cars over there, like Golf, Corolla etc., they tend to have a single arm that is bent half way along to make it park neatly along the bottom of the glass.
Now if you pick one that has a wiper mounted on the left of the rear window (viewed from behind) It would probably help park it neatly along the bottom of your screen.
Now, that said I would also presume that by the time this sweeps up the length of the arm from the pivot would b too long for the screen and the end of the blade run over the fiberglass and "wave in the air"
So then you would need to work out the angle required for max glass sweep only and order up the correct gear from someone like Stafford Vehicle Components http://www.s-v-c.co.uk/ That would probably over your inspection but not be tooo good got any damp days.
Ian

| Re: Single Wiper Arm / Blade - Sources? Randy,
I know that we and others have done a small mod to put the wiper indent in the spider and nose onto the left side of the car..making it simper for a normal length arm to be used...(no pantograph arm required)

| Re: Single Wiper Arm / Blade - Sources? Good though Ian - I'll probably wander around the U-PULL yard once things thaw and dry out a little more here...
Fran - I'll probably end up doing just that if I can't find something reasonable at the yard.. The Pantograph arm would be alright to get me through inspection, but most of the ones I've seen are very bulky and would look a bit unsightly on the GT40.. I doubt that I would leave it on.. |

| Re: Single Wiper Arm / Blade - Sources? Chris - Great pictures! Measurements and all ! ! !
Since I have some other fiberglass work to do on the spider anyway - I'll probably go this route... |

I hope you also caught that clicking on the text of the post takes you to the post in my build thread with a few more pics.
This was the first glass work I ever did. I took my time and it came out extremely well (with a LOT of thought and fear leading up to sawzalling a perfectly good spider). Have no fear, even with my hesitancy, it only took an afternoon. It's very straightforward.
Cheers, |
