Hey, don't shoot the messenger

I was just posting pics of the the FORD letters as found on various UK vehicles during
the timeframe.

Here's a link to a close up of one of the GMP road car models - it definitely appears to
be more of a block lettering type than the Zephyr used:

GMP 1/12 Ford GT40 Mk1 Road Car: Blue With White Stripes, GMP, Sports Cars Exotics, Auction, Diecast, Collectibles, Apparel, Hats

But, it could also just be the eye playing tricks, and that the larger spacing between
letters makes the GT40 look more "blocky".

The Brian Winer/Wallace Wyss GT40 Photo Archive book has a good picture of the
letters, I'll see if I can dig it up.

In Spains book the 'Eight' cars ready to leave UK on 21 December 1966 had letters on nose. That makes it Anglia,Cortina Mk1/Mk2, Zephyr/Zodiac Mk3/IV, Thames Freighter,Early Transit, plus early 2000 thru 5000 tractors as possibles. I have pics of 68> Escort/Cortina/Zephyr & the 'O' in particular & overall format is not correct in these later models.

My Best guess is 66 Mk2 Non Crossflow Cortina & the very first MKIV Zephyr/Zodiac as the earlier cortina anglia zephyr never seemed to have the 'Ford' script, only the model name.
In the USA 1960> Ford Falcon & I would assume Fairlane etc as well, look to be very similar as AJ pointed out earlier.

Actually if I 'had' to have a preference the small oval Ford Badge ( Chrome edge & Script with blue background looks best.

The MKI letters were completely different to the MKIII versions.

AJ, Do you mean these? In Aussie ---- www.rarespares.net.au --- That one is off 82> Falcon [PN B2012 on rarespares website] & is plastic stick on from memory- there are other slightly smaller versions from English cars in metal as well. Have a few somewhere, can look them out if anyones interested.

Re: F-O-R-D Script on nose of GT40

These are the correct Ford emblems as fitted to the sills.
They are parts stock from the 120E Anglia and Cortina MKI.

Jac,
And even these differ.
MKIII # P1102 in the Shelby Museum
Personally I would go for the 1957 Ranchero clean style font

Re: F-O-R-D Script on nose of GT40

Looks like Jac's picture pretty well matches those on the picture of Barry's car...

I don't have to have originals as my car is a replica - so if I can locate the proper replica emblems I would be just fine with that.

I appreciate all the info and the links guys! You're the best...

Re: F-O-R-D Script on nose of GT40

Guys,
These are our cars and not originals so do what makes you happy. I put a Ford Blue oval from one of my parts cars (90 Taurus SHO) on front where I wanted it. From the front some think it is a Ford GT. Well it is powered by Ford so can put on Ford Blue oval from my point of view. I am not a purist for nothing is ever perfect.
Enjoy the car, find happiness for yourself and forget what anyone else thinks because it is yours not theirs.
Mort.
