This past weekend I took on the project of removing the "stock" seats in CAV # 82. They can be removed very easily. Four bolts each seat and then lift and.....HOLY S--T they must weigh 50lbs each. To be exact mine weighed in at a staggering 46.5 lbs. each seat. Beautiful to look at and certainly built to last by the good people at CAV but WOW was I shocked at the overall weight. Good thing I spend a bit of time in the gym. When I purchased the car it came with a set of SPF seat inserts also. To make a long story short I retrofitted these SPF inserts to the my car and they look great IMHO. They fit very well in the car and here's the benefits. Overall weight saved 82 LBS!! Extra head and leg room, easier to remove so access to the engine cover is now made easier. I've got to be getting better fuel economy (not that I worry about that) and better performance which I do worry about. I'll try to post pics soon. This is certainly an option for those "bigger" drivers of CAV cars.
