I am finaly assembling my car and have removed the masking from my headlight covers only to find a thin film of glue residue left on the covers. What can I use to remove the glue that won't damage or discolor the lexan?
Goo Gone (citrus based available all over) or lighter fluid (a tad flammable and if you have a Zippo lighter, might be close at hand) or Rubber Cement thinner (available at artist supply stores).
One of the best glue removers is " Brasso or Silvo " brass and silver polish.
The solvent in these will disolve the glue and the fine abrasive they contain will also polish out any scratch or scuff marks.
I was put on to this by a watch maker who used these to polish the glass and plastic faces of watches.
If you have a perspex weathershield on the driver's door of your car that has a lot of scuffs and scratches you will be amazed at how clear it becomes after being polished with one of these cleaners.
