Air Horns ?

For a kick, I installed a cheap set of JC Whitney air horns(for $28) on my wife's Escort. There add claimed 130 decibels loud. These air horns were definetly loud. They were the loudest horns I've experienced and worked great for scaring deer off the roadway. The problem is they just do not last. Bought two sets, and the air pumps crap out in about two months. After taking a deffective pump appart, I saw why these pumps fail. They are cheap pieces of crap! Just plastic and pot metal, and not made to last. Anybody know of a quality loud airhorn? Jim:
Look in one of those tuner car sites for a small compressor, that and a small air tank for a reservoir, some 1/4" plastic line, a valve and some fittings and you are good to go.
The big trucks just have a line to the valve in the ceiling, and run off the main air supply.

Jim,
I have the twin horn setup from Car Builders
Car Builder Solutions - NF Auto. One-stop Shop for Parts, Tools and Accessories for the Car Builder. Neil and Matt Foreman.
It is plenty loud and is a three wire hook up.

The air horns I've been using have been Fiaam. I have seen Fiaam regular car type horns that last the life of the car, but their air horns just don't cut it. The first two sets I bought were made in Italy. Both quit in less than a month. JC Whitney was great about warranty replacements. The third replacement Fiaam was made in China and it didn't work at all!! Ranger Jim

Hi Bill Musarra, Thanks for the tip on the air horns. Do you have a web site or phone number for Car Builders. Thanks Ranger Jim

Ferrari and Lamborghini would be sorry to hear that. They have been OEM in Ferrari and Lamborghini going back to the late 60's.

My personal experience has been that they've always worked flawlessly and without fail.

You can also try the german equivalent - Hella. Between Fiamm and Hella that's 95% of the consumer market. Hopefully you find a good solution.

Good luck!
