Bonding spider to firewall

Question is how to finish the connection between firewall and spider?
I left a small gap and was thinking of putting a rubber gasket on the edge of panel to meet the fiberglass. Is it enough? I would like to see a more rigid connection (screw or rivet) but not sure if that would create problems.

I would think that bonding tabs to the spider and then bolting those tabs to the firewall would work out better should you ever want to remove the firewall without removing the spider or visa versa..

That's the plan for mine anyway...

hello renato i got around this by glassing a three inch flange
onto the back edge of the spider wich sits up against firewall
then bolted to bosses
welded into the rear firewall hoop in eight places with 10mm
cap screws makes the spider very rigid and self locating

Hi Randy and Chris,

Thanks for the advice. Both of you are suggesting similar and good solutions.
So, bonding it is!
Not sure which way to go yet. I still have some work to do till it's time to bond the spider.

Oh also, my spider is bolted to my rollcage in 4 places which will significantly improve the overall strength of the spider...

Good point Randy, my firewall is (will be) riveted to roll cage so if I bolt my spider to firewall effectively it will be connected to the roll cage.
