Mustang with GT40 headlights Ford Concept

Hi guys not to crash the party but I was getting nowhere on the Mustang Forums. This was a Ford Concept car from Nov/66 called the Mach 1 and has a few styling cues from the Ford GT Mk1.The question do those headlights appear to you to be Gt40 units? (Marchal TP21SP) I'd like to do a recreation of this front end treatment, Thanks for the input.

This car was available in 1/25 scale from AMT models in 1967. It was re-released twice more in the 70's and 80's. The full size car was done on a 1966 chassis. All the body panels closely resemble the 67-68 Mustang production model but are slightly different. The tail panel has a one piece tail lamp that ran across the whole back. A very attractive car. The styling department then took the car back and restyled it for 1968, putting vertical slatted covers over the head lamps and extending the grill opening out about 9 inches, squaring of the rectangle opening. The car was brutally ugly then. A Japanese model company did a 1/20 scale kit of the 1968 car. You can still all the kits on the model web sites. Forever Ford!!!

I don't see that "shield" imprint in the middle like you do on the original GT40 lights. You should still do the car and just match up the lights as close as you can with a nice width like in the factory pictures. Maybe a Hella unit?

Hi Rick Roy ;Yes, if you google image search "1966 Mach 1 Concept" you will find a couple pics of the 1/25 AMT scale model on the SAAC forum.IMHO this first version is far better looking than the 2nd..It's a very cool blend of the GT40 and Mustang
